Our Charity Partnership.

One in six children in England now has a probable mental health condition. With the impact of the Covid years leading to additional pressures around schooling and exams and a cost-of-living crisis, the UK’s next generation is living through some tough times. It is more evident than ever before that we need to prioritise our children's and young people's mental health.

About Place2Be

Place2Be is a children's mental health charity that provides counselling and mental health support and training in UK schools. Our tried and tested model is backed by research.

We believe that children should not have to face mental health problems alone.

For over 25 years, we have provided mental health services in schools, guided by our mission, vision, values and approach.

PlaceToBe Team

Our mission

Our mission is to improve children's and young people's mental health.

We believe that no child or young person should have to face mental health problems alone.

Our teams across the UK passionately support pupils in managing challenges in their lives.

Our Vision

Place2Be's vision is for all children and young people to have the support they need to build lifelong coping skills and thrive.

We will make this happen by:

  • Providing high-quality mental health services in schools, backed by research

  • Building confidence and knowledge in schools to promote a better understanding of mental health and wellbeing

  • Building a mental health workforce that can support children and young people

  • Raising awareness of children and young people's mental health everywhere, from the government to the general public.

Our Values

We believe that how we approach our work is as important as the work itself. Our four key values shape everything we do:

Place2Be Working

We bring empathy and kindness to all we do to better understand and meet the needs of children, young people, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

We demonstrate sound ethical values in all of our work and are honest, transparent, courageous and authentic.

We have the courage to continue in the face of adversity and do this with determination to find effective solutions.

We bring an open-minded approach and flexibility to our thinking and actions and enable others to do the same.

CCBD Group Proudly Partnered With Place2Be

We know that 78% of the children seen by Place2Be’s in-school counsellors last year felt socially anxious and NHS leaders are reporting the highest numbers of children and young people on record needing help for their mental health. Still, with the right support, we can create resilient young people who are able to cope with life’s challenges.

We urge decision-makers to be ambitious and devise a long-term plan for the wellbeing of all of our children and young people. Focusing on earlier intervention will help to relieve pressure on our NHS and contribute positively to the economy.

Support for wellbeing is not optional. It should be at the heart of the education system - and expert mental health support should be embedded in every school. We also need increased support for teachers, school staff and families, to create environments at home and school which foster good mental health for everyone.
